KATARAKT is a short film set in Katarraktis, a coastal village on the Greek island of Chios, just 6.8 miles from Turkey. Drawing on the dual meaning of ‘cataract’, the eye disease and the village’s name, the film explores blurred vision as a metaphor for memory, migration, and borders. Past and present intersect through the landscape, the narratives of those bound to the village, drifting Turkish radio broadcasts, and the intimate process of eye treatment, forming an experimental reflection on distance and connection.
